How Much Space Do I Need?
The most common and first question we are asked is: How much space will I need to install an elevator in my home?
Answer: Typically an unfinished hoist way of 5′ x 5′ is large enough for practically any home elevator. Home Healthsmith will provide information explaining all of the space requirements. Many manufacturers provide Planning Guides that are perfect for architects and builders to review in preparation for elevator installation.
Keep in mind that most elevator companies have minimum cab sizes that are larger than what is practical for the homeowner. There are times when a homeowner who has limited space will need a smaller elevator. Inclinator’s space-saving monorail design allows for smaller elevator cabs, due to the smaller dimensions of their elevator bases.
