Home Accessibility Options For The Elderly And Disabled

There should never be a point in life where getting around your own home is a struggle. This can be particularly daunting when stairs are involved. When it comes to getting older, you’ll want every part of your house to be accessible under any circumstance. Home Healthsmith understands this very basic need, and offers a variety of products to make vertical freedom in your home easier.

Here are a few of our products that can help make the transition to full accessibility seamless.

In Home Elevators

Our residential elevator is the most straightforward way to eliminate problems accessing different floors of your house. It will also make carrying your things around the house easier, as well.

An unfinished hoistway of 5’ by 5’ is the standard space needed to install a residential elevator. However, there are exceptions to this rule. Our lift manufacturer, Inclinator, utilizes a space-saving monorail design that allows for use in smaller spaces like those found in residential homes. Following our initial review, we will provide the necessary information for an elevator installation based on the size of your house.

With over 35years of elevator experience, we know how to work with your contractor to make sure you’re getting the best product and installation possible. Click here to learn more about our residential elevators.

Is an elevator too much lift for you? We can help you determine if this is the best way to go, or if one of our other lift options are a better fit.

Vertical Platform Lifts

Having trouble getting into your home? Sometimes ramps simply aren’t a convenient option—the stairs may be too steep or tall, or you need to access a tall deck or porch to use your front door. You don’t have to give up your home simply because stairs have become an issue.

Our vertical platform lifts are the perfect mechanism for those who have trouble getting into their house. They come in various sizes, and we work with different manufacturers, so you can choose the lift that is the most appropriate for your needs. With lifting power of up to 750 pounds, they can be an appropriate option for those in wheelchairs. With the lift itself weighing less than 400 pounds, installation won’t be a problem—our team can do that for you, too.

Whether you don’t have the best knees for stairs, or you’re simply seeking convenience, the platform lift will easily allow better access to entering your home, no matter what the circumstances.

If you’re looking for a lift to use inside of your house, we got you covered there, as well.

Stairlifts

Stairs can be a burden, especially when living alone. A Home Healthsmith stairlift can be an efficient and affordable option for bringing you up and down in the most comfortable way possible.

Our stairlifts are completely automated, and can be operated with the touch of a button. They come standard with two remotes—so you can leave one upstairs and one downstairs to operate the lift while empty. This is ideal for multi-user situations where the lift can be sent to whomever needs it, regardless of where the other user is. Our lifts are also equipped with a footplate and the ability to be folded to maximize space within the home.

Not even a power outages can stop this chair, as all of our stairlifts come with a battery backup option. They are all equipped with seatbelts, and sensors which will cause the chair to stop automatically should anything obstruct its path. They also offer a key switch that disables the chair, thereby avoiding its use by children or others.

As with the vertical lift, we offer multiple stairlift models, including a waterproof outdoor version. Click to learn more.
