Are stairlifts installed on the walls or on the steps?
Stair lifts attach to your stairs, not the wall: The rail is held into place by support brackets that are screwed in and placed evenly apart from each other. The screws can go through carpet or any type of surfaces such as concrete, metal or tile.
Are elevators expensive and difficult to install?
Elevators are not expensive, due to the number of years (30+) that one can utilize the elevator in their home, they can be a very cost-effective addition to the home. They are easy to install with the advances of technology and modular design, they have made it very easy to install.
What type of material is your ramping made out of?
100% Durable Aluminum Construction: All of our ramps are made from high-grade premium aluminum, making them extremely durable for everyday use and all-weather conditions. They require little or no maintenance giving you peace of mind that it won’t rust or rot like many other wood or steel ramps.
Our XM ramp comes with our Non-Skid, open weave, two-way traction surface that helps make this ramp slip resistant. The XM ramp was created for our customers who live in parts of the country where snowy and icy conditions prevail during the winter months but can be used in any climate. Our XM ramp also comes with a 1000 lb Weight Capacity. This ramp is ideal for wheelchairs, scooters, walkers, canes, and crutches.
How are your grab bars installed?
We use stainless steel medical grade knurled bars, just like one would have seen in a hospital or ADA compliant public bathroom.
When we install grab bars, depending on the orientation of the bar being installed, we make sure it is level first. Once the grab bar is level and positioned at the right height for the client, we mark where the holes will need to be cut with blue painter’s tape and sharpie. If there is tile where the grab bar is being installed we will drill with a diamond coated hole saw so that we have a nice clean cut and don’t crack the tile. The grab bars are secured into the wall using wing-it’s, which is a toggle anchor, or also known as a butterfly anchor. They attach to each end of the grab bar and when the screw is loosened and popped in, the anchor pops out. Once the anchor is popped out, the screw is tightened and the anchor grips against the back side of the wall. In the case where we drill and come across a stud, we simply pop off the anchor on the wing-it and secure the wing-it with wood screws.
